Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, met with Norwegian Minister of International Development, Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, in the presence of Norway's Ambassador to Amman, Espen Lindback. The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the developmental and humanitarian fields.

Minister Toukan expressed her gratitude to the Government of Norway for the developmental support provided to Jordan, which contributes to Jordan's development and reform plans. She also appreciated Norway's role in providing humanitarian aid targeted at providing essential services to Syrian refugees. The Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening Jordanian-Norwegian relations to serve the interests of both nations and open new avenues for cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Minister Toukan highlighted the importance of continuing to address the challenges associated with the Syrian refugee crisis and the resulting pressures on host communities, particularly in light of decreased support due to other global crises. She thanked the Government of Norway for its commitments made at the eighth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” held at the end of May, emphasizing the need to translate these commitments into tangible actions. She called for more clarity regarding the level of support allocated to host countries, including Jordan.

Furthermore, Minister Toukan praised the depth of bilateral relations with Norway across various fields and Norway’s role in supporting the implementation of economic reforms and developmental priorities, especially in education and social protection. This includes contributions to the sustainability project and the co-financing agreement to support the education sector in Jordan. as well as the “Sahara Green” project, which serves as an international model for prosperous green desert areas and creates local green job opportunities through the production of food, fresh water, and clean energy. Minister Toukan expressed the Government of Jordan’s appreciation for Norway's contribution to the Multi-Donor Trust Fund supporting the implementation of economic and structural reforms.

Minister Tvinnereim praised the strategic partnership between Jordan and Norway and expressed a continued commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest. She emphasized Jordan's vital and central role in regional stability and reaffirmed Norway's continuous support for Jordan in both developmental and humanitarian fields.
