MoPIC Minister meets with a delegation from the International Development Committee in the British House of Commons

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation met with a delegation from the International Development Committee in the British House of Commons, headed by parliamentarian Sarah Champion, and in the presence of the Deputy British Ambassador to Amman Hazel Mowbray, where the Minister praised the partnership with the United Kingdom, including the development partnership, and looked forward to increasing development cooperation in the coming phase. She also expressed the government’s gratitude and appreciation for the United Kingdom’s contribution to supporting development priorities and the assistance it has provided to Jordan during the past period, along with further assistance to meet the needs of Syrian refugees and host communities. She stressed the importance of working together and providing continued support to implement priorities within the Economic Modernization Vision.

The Minister presented a summary of the progress of the Economic Modernization Vision Executive Program and the Public Sector Modernization Roadmap and highlighted the development priorities and the most important economic reforms the government is working on, stressing to the British side the importance of continued and increased support for the Kingdom.

Toukan briefed the British delegation on some of the challenges facing Jordan due to the regional challenges afflicting the region, the consequences of the war against Gaza on the Jordanian economy, and the continued hosting of large numbers of Syrian refugees on the Kingdom’s territory, especially in light of the decline in assistance to the Jordanian response plan for the Syrian crisis.
