AMMAN — Jordan and the UK on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding meant to enhance cooperation between the Jordanian Department of Statistics (DoS) and the UK Office for National Statistics.
Signed by Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan and British Ambassador in Amman Bridget Brind, the two-year agreement aims to offer technical support to the DoS to ease the implementation of the department's plan pertaining to the transformation to an interactive statistical centre in line with the public sector modernisation roadmap.
The support would allow the department to help in policy-making, scenario development, decision-making and future foresight, according to a ministry statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The MoU will also provide estimates of a range of informal sector activities and establish a construction index, as well as provide volume and price indicators for short-term services, transport and communications activities.
