Amman, 4 June 2025 – Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu alongside Dr. Abdul Hakim Elwaer, FAO Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and Nabil Assaf, FAO Representative in Jordan.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation between Jordan and FAO within the Country Programming Framework for 2024-2028, in areas of national priorities in agriculture, food security, climate change, in addition to agricultural statistics and data, and delivering on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) —a collaboration for the development of the agricultural sector in alignment with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision.
During the meeting, Minister Toukan emphasized the ongoing cooperation with FAO, which has contributed over the years to supporting the implementation of priority programs, establishing the Regional Food Security Observatory in Jordan, empowering youth and women in the agricultural sector, and technical cooperation.
FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu commended the continuous cooperation and support to developing the agricultural sector and enhancing food security and self-sufficiency.
