Amman - 12/12/2024
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan and the Regional Director of the French Development Agency for the Middle East, Yves Guiquero, signed a development policy loan agreement to support the implementation program of the public sector modernization roadmap; provided by the French Development Agency in the amount of (150) million euros to support the sector through the general budget, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Jordan, Alexei Le Coor Granmeson.
The program focuses on three priorities within the public sector modernization roadmap: enhancing governance, supporting the restructuring of some government institutions, improving the human resources management system, and developing institutional capabilities, which contribute to achieving an enabling and effective public sector.
Minister Toukan expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the French government, represented by the French Development Agency, for its continuous support to Jordan as one of the most important development partners over the years, appreciating the depth of bilateral relations with France.
For his part, the French Ambassador to Jordan stated that his government is proud of keeping pace with the public sector modernization in Jordan, in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein's vision, as the Regional Director of the French Development Agency pointed out that this financing comes within the support provided by the agency to help Jordan overcome institutional, economic and social challenges.
This loan also comes within the financing ceiling provided by the fifth memorandum of understanding signed with the agency, which frames the development cooperation between the two parties for the years (2023-2026).
The French Development Agency announced that it will provide a grant within the framework of this program for technical support and capacity building of 1 million euros.
