Group of Eight considers Jordan priority to join ‘Deauville Partnership’ initiative

 

Jul. 24/ 2011 - AMMAN (Petra) - The Group of Eight has invited Jordan to join the “Deauville Partnership” initiative, which was launched by the group along with Tunisia and Egypt in Paris last May. Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan, who returned to the Kingdom after participating in a meeting for representatives of the eight countries in Paris, said the group considered the Kingdom one of the countries with the priority to be included in the initiative and stressed the importance of supporting political and economic reform efforts in Jordan. The meeting focused on means to support Arab countries included in the initiative in economic, commercial and investment fields. The group see?s to include all countries engaging in a transition towards free, democratic societies in the initiative.
