1952 - Council of Construction

Law of the Council of Construction No. (37) for 1952

The Council's focus was on improving some of the basic developmental projects such as the Agricultural Research Station in Deir Alla, launching the agricultural loan section, constructing the desert road, forestry projects and constructing grain silos…et. Most of the funding in this domain came from British loans and grants.

1954 - Office of Consolidated Services (OCS)

“Without a law”

It was established to manage economic and technical projects funded by the Americans

1957- Council of Construction (Re-established with the Prime Minister as its President)

A provisional law No. (15) for 1957

The previous Council of Construction was dissolved while continuing with the implementation of its projects. The OCS also was dissolved while resuming management of outstanding projects. The Council's mandate included setting and planning the economic growth policy in Jordan as well as producing a comprehensive economic program.

1966- National Council for Human Power Planning

Law of the National Council for Human Power Planning
A Provisional Law No. (101) for 1966

Its mandate includes the supervision of the Jordanian Community requirements of working human power on all levels as well as approving of the general policy of the several study levels in Jordan. It also supervises the long-term comprehensive program to train and orientate the required human power to fulfill the developmental needs of the Country. This Council doesn't replace the Council of Construction; it rather complements it.

1971- National Council for Planning

Law of Planning No. (68) for 1971

It replaced the Council of Construction and the National Council for Human Power Planning. Its law nullifies the law of Council of Construction No. (15) for 1957, and the Law of the National Council of Human Power Planning No. (101) for 1966

1984- Ministry of Planning

Law No. (68) for 1971

It has replaced the National Council for Planning; it implements the Council's tasks and operates according to its Law.

October 25,2003 - Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation

It has replaced the Ministry of Planning; implements its tasks and operates according to its law.
